Thank you for helping my mom and dad with getting my service dog, Roper. Roper is a Goldendoodle, his mom is a Golden Retriever and his dad is a Standard Poodle. His birthday is January 10 th 2014. We got to celebrate his first birthday, while we were out in OH training with him.
We went to Xenia, OH from January 5th to January 16th for 2 weeks of training at 4 Paws for Ability everyday so we could know how to work with Roper with his commands. We passed the public access test on January 16th and graduated with the class, whom we all have become like family that day.
Roper and I hit it off great from the start, and he and I are great friends. He helps me with-pre-alerting to my seizures about 1 112 to 2 hours before I have them. He first licks me on either my hands, feet 01′ face or a combination, and then goes to let my mom and dad know by licking them. They are working with Roper to get him to bark to alert them, but Roper isn’t much of a barker. Roper and I both love to play with balls, when the weather warms up, and the snow melts. I can’t wait to get to play catch with Roper in our yard.
Roper also has been a great help in disrupting my behaviors when I become agitated, or have a meltdown due to my PDD-NOS, and Anxiety. My mom and dad now can take me out into the public without me wanting to leave right away due to my senory with large crowds and lots of loud noises.
Roper has made me more socially outgoing towards people that I don’t know too. Since Roper is my service dog, people have to ask me if it is okay to pet him. I have to answer questions like, “What is his name?”, “What is my name?” Before Roper, I didn’t like talking to others around me, now with Roper I will talk to others the majority of the time.
