Some people have asked why the charity wing of the Krysta Hankee Memorial Fund is called the Krysta Cares Flight Club. What does “Flight Club” mean? and Who are these people? To the Krysta Hankee Memorial Fund, Flight Club means a group of people traveling/working for a common cause. The Flight Club members are anyone who has participated in or supported this effort to make a difference for others. Anyone who has donated time, raffle items, hit golf balls or purchased raffle tickets or provided a setting or support for an event is a Flight Club member. There is no membership fee or official membership role call. You should be proud and here is what you have done:
A. Provided transportation for hundreds of families traveling for medical care such as ten year old Tony who must travel to Florida to receive his life saving organ transplant and another young boy named Richard who’s family traveled to Ohio to meet and train with his service dog named Roper.
B. Purchased an adaptive AmTryke for a special needs child named Simon.
C. Provided Thanksgiving dinner for a 16 year old cancer patient who asked to celebrate Thanksgiving in September at the hospital with his family because he knew he was not healthy enough to travel home and would not live long enough to have that special meal with his family in November.
D. Provided social workers with precious gas cards to not only support families in their travels but to lift the spirit and give additional strength to families discovering there are people in this Valley who don’t know them but care about them.
E. You have done much, much more including donating hundreds of rolls of paper products to support the men who are currently homeless and living at Victory House while they get well and reinvent themselves in hopes of returning to society as refreshed supporters of a positive way of life.
Here is a comment from one of our Flight Club members:
“This year, we participated in seven of the outings, and each one was a joy! Because of the extraordinary efforts of Bill and Chris Hankee and their warm personal touch, each tournament was just a pleasure to be a part of! Bill and Chris really go the extra mile to make sure every golfer is appreciated and has a good time while generating precious funds for their incredible support of families in need. We are already looking forward to next year’s tournaments!”
Thank you Flight Club members! You have traveled far for the most precious of common goals, to help others.
